Nature Knows Best
When it comes to garden books there are a lot of different approaches to read up on. All the different advice can get pretty overwhelming fast. Especially if you are new to gardening.
But sustainable gardening should be an approach that should be kept simple. To me, the most natural approach is the one that makes the most common sense. Any form of gardening that mimics the natural forests and fields should be the most successful way to get plants to grow. If we take a moment to observe the natural habitats that surround us then that can be our greatest teachers.
Once you have observed the natural way that plants grow around you then you can pick up a few garden books to supplement your observations. Attuning your senses to the natural order of things is an important first step before introducing human influence and their ideas on how to grow a garden. Because nature always knows best. Treat every method like a grain of salt, test what you would like, and leave the rest.
By having a spiritual approach to growing a garden, you can let your inner voice guide you on what makes the most sense, of course, there will be mistakes. But this takes the stress off by removing the need to do everything the “right way” or perfectly.
I found a lot of the information extremely helpful in these gardening books. There are many tips that I will use in my garden this year to see how they work for me. I highly recommend each one if you are looking for helpful methods to get started and learn about gardening.
